Although known by historic tribal names such as Arapaho, Bannock,
Sioux, Blackfeet and Nez Perce, observations of prehistoric land
use patterns, combined with the “lay of the land” observations,
prehistoric site locations and historic records, help explain some
of the many trails that prehistoric and later historic people traveled
throughout the Greater Yellowstone Homeland.
